Dear Ellen DeGeneres,

Your show is fun! Usually when I see it on tv, I will watch few minutes, or check out some clips on your website (ellentv.com).  Your personality is hot like fire and your dance moves are thrilling, probably better than MJ’s…Watching the first 3-4 minutes of your show is probably the best training ground for anyone who is interested to learn how to dance.

As you know in the Great White North, we are having winter, it is usually pretty chilly. – I am thinking, it would be great if you had your stage set-up as an artificial beach with some artificial sunlight similar to this old-folks home in Toronto – http://tinyurl.com/439z2de. On the other hand, aybe you want to start “Ellens Sunshine State” tanning salon where you could replicate the artificial beach and sun along with having an area to bust some moves in the sunlight…sounds pretty good to me! If you ever considered this, please look at Vancouver as a place to launch this venture.

Although, you probably will not set up a warm place for us, do know that your show is always fun to watch and does warm us up with good laughs and brilliant dance moves.

Dr. Seuss – Happy Birthday

“If you’d never been born, well what would you be?
You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree!
You might be a door knob! Or three baked potatoes!
You might be a bag full of hard green tomatoes!
Or worse than all that… why, you might be a
WASN’T!
A Wasn’t has no fun at all. No, he doesn’t.
A Wasn’t just isn’t. He just isn’t present.
But you… you ARE YOU! And now, isn’t that pleasant!”
– Dr. Seuss, from Happy Birthday To You!

Remember when you were a kid and it was fun to read and look at the silly pictures of the Cat in the Hat, Red Fish Blue Fish, and the sneetches!  It was all thanks to a man by the name of Theordor Gesisel. Theodor was born in 1904 and gave us a lot of fun and entertaining books to read, he has been the reason that many people enjoy reading. Theodore had a crazy imagination, a big kid at heart and clearly had a fun caring spirit.  The messages in his books were everything from realizing that you have potential and to care for the world, your environment and those around you.

Early february, when I was in Sydney, Australia I was lucky enough to stumble upon a flyer that was promoting a Dr. Seuss art exhibit at Trevor Victor Harvey Art Gallery. As soon as I saw that, I was set to go!  I am so happy that I did, as I was able to renew that interest and love for some of the work of Dr. Seuss.  During my visit to the gallery, I learned a ton of things about Theodore Geisel and the man they called Dr. Seuss. He made a lot of strange, wacky art and some insanely cool “Unorthodox Taxidermy” with his incredible imagination!

In any case, I definitely got caught in the moment and purchased a little more artwork than my budget allowed. Although, I know it is something that I am going to treasure in the future and something really fun that I will be able to share with my children, grandchildren, etc. I really wanted to walk away in my way of being cheap, but I loved them so much and couldn’t do it! I took home these limited edition prints which come with a certificate of authenticity from the Dr. Seuss Estate.

The three pieces of illustration art that I picked up where:

1.  “I like to eat cake in a tub”

2. “Sylvester McMonkey McBean” (Sneetch Machine)

3. “oh, the places you’ll go”

Theres still a few more pieces that I would really like, including a couple from his secret art collection and from his archived collection

1. “Wisdom of the Orient cat”

2. “Cat behind the hat”

Just a quick note, try to google and find the story of the cat behind the hat, it is very interesting, fun and ver witty! Dr. Seuss was absolutely a fantastic and wonderful person.  I hope that he will not be forgotten!

Theodor Geisel – I SALUTE YOU!

This is my editorial from this past week of January 20, 2011 – Enjoy  ~ Wanita’s Words

At this time of the year there’s nothing better than saturating oneself in fantasy…lounging on the sofa gazing tenatively into the tube.  Housewives all over escape their mundane days to travel to another world that is full of drama and excitement.  While ‘All My Children’ are at work playing out the ‘Days of our Lives’, the ‘Young and the Restless’ are trying to get a prescription at ‘General Hospital’ for ritalin from ‘The Doctors’ because they only have ‘One Life to Live’.  No wonder there’s no time to get the laundry done, dust and vacuum and still keep up with what Oprah and Drl Phil are up to…but things aren’t much different in the evenings of our lives.  I find myself in the same place at the same time gazing into McDreamy’s eyes while McSteamy is trying to save a life…(ps…don’t tell my husband) and now there’s a new sitcom with a McKiwi!  There’s almost too much eye candy…and you know that too much candy isn’t good for anyone.  ‘The Apprentice’ and ‘The Mentalist’ are ‘Fascinating People’ with ‘Criminal Minds’ that work at ‘The Office’ so ‘Judge Judy’ can see them in “The People’s Court’ to sentence them to take some therapy at a ‘Private Practise’. On another evening polygamist ‘Sister Wives’ are engaging in ‘Big Love’;  they are certainly not complying with state ‘Law and Order’. My cat races out of the room when “Doggy Day” comes on and I think she needs therapy, too!

My God!  What has this world come to!

What about those reality sitcoms that make our lives look like we live in a coma…my friends, ‘The Housewives of New York City’ should join forces with ‘TN Wrestling’.  We can get the scoop on ‘The Insider’ on what it’s like to be ‘Dancing with the Stars’ or ‘Skating with the Stars’ (depending on the weather).

As you probably have guessed, I am having way too much fun with this but the truth is, we all need an outlet to let go of the stresses of everyday life and a little escape via the tube can’t always be bad as long as we keep perspective…”Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?”
