This last week I had the privilege of spending time down under in the land of AUS. During the short one-week stay, it was a pleasure to visit the small community of Port Stephens, Sydney & Brisbane. The highlight of the week was in Brisbane at the Lone…read more…

Ok, so we are now in Vietnam. It is extremely hot! Very humid an for most men this can be really annoying and uncomfortable.

Well you will be happy to know there is a solution to help you stay dry.

Balla Powder to the rescue! I have the tingle formula which is lime and mint and does provide some tingling sensation, but most importantly it leaves you feeling fresh and comfortable.

So last month when I was in Melbourne at the Convention centre they were serving Tea during the breaks which was an incredible burst of goodness! During the three days of the conference, I probably drank 5 pots alone of this tea made by SerendipiTea. The flavor I was digging was Blood Orange & Hibiscus. Totally Juicy Stuff by the way!

I came home and had a few samples, but ran out since I was at home busy making MarTEAni’s at home…Yes, Simple Tea, Vodka and Ice shake and enjoy! Doesn’t get much easier than that.

In any case, I twittered SerendipiTea (@SerendipiTeaUSA) on Twitter and told them I enjoyed the red tea…couldnt remember the name (yes, even after the samples…brain dead child here I guess!). They told me what it was and then another quick response from Caffe Divano (@caffedivano in Port Moody, it is a good 25 minute drive from my house in South Vancouver, so it took a little convincing to get me out here – they offered to have it boxed up and ready for me if I want to come. So here I am saturday morning in Port Moody (a nice town…) and have already picked up my tea and enjoying a cup of white tea writing this blog post before I make the trek back home.

I really appreciate quick, good customer service and when I need more tea, I will be sure to drop a tweet or just make my way out to port moody to get a refill!

Check out their websites and products, you will not be disappointed!

To the Loser Taxi Driver (Car #8447, of Taxi’s Combined Services) in Sydney, Australia.

I just want to send you a note of thanks for rejecting to take me to my destination of Paddys Market from the Marriott (Sunday Feb 12, 2012 around 9:50am). Who knows, you may have saved my life…Well, that is if you crashed while driving me to my destination. In any case, you saved me roughly $10.00.

Although, I am still a little annoyed you should know my thoughts.  – As a visitor to your city, I am not interested in mapping my way around and trying to walk and ask people if I am going the right way. If I am paying you for a service that you are supposed to provide.  Just do it and be thankful that someone is hiring you.

In any case, I am glad that the weather was good this morning, because it probably means that your business was slower than usual.  I guess you must drive a lot of people around so it doesn’t matter if you reject clients. Your colleagues that I spoke to today while taking them to other points of interest around town, said they would take any job. Even a $5 job…as days like today are apparently quite slow…

On a final note, I just wanted to let you know that nobody cares, nor should they care to listen to you next time you complain that you have nobody to drive around town.

Kind Regards,

MK

Dr. Seuss – Happy Birthday

“If you’d never been born, well what would you be?
You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree!
You might be a door knob! Or three baked potatoes!
You might be a bag full of hard green tomatoes!
Or worse than all that… why, you might be a
WASN’T!
A Wasn’t has no fun at all. No, he doesn’t.
A Wasn’t just isn’t. He just isn’t present.
But you… you ARE YOU! And now, isn’t that pleasant!”
– Dr. Seuss, from Happy Birthday To You!

Remember when you were a kid and it was fun to read and look at the silly pictures of the Cat in the Hat, Red Fish Blue Fish, and the sneetches!  It was all thanks to a man by the name of Theordor Gesisel. Theodor was born in 1904 and gave us a lot of fun and entertaining books to read, he has been the reason that many people enjoy reading. Theodore had a crazy imagination, a big kid at heart and clearly had a fun caring spirit.  The messages in his books were everything from realizing that you have potential and to care for the world, your environment and those around you.

Early february, when I was in Sydney, Australia I was lucky enough to stumble upon a flyer that was promoting a Dr. Seuss art exhibit at Trevor Victor Harvey Art Gallery. As soon as I saw that, I was set to go!  I am so happy that I did, as I was able to renew that interest and love for some of the work of Dr. Seuss.  During my visit to the gallery, I learned a ton of things about Theodore Geisel and the man they called Dr. Seuss. He made a lot of strange, wacky art and some insanely cool “Unorthodox Taxidermy” with his incredible imagination!

In any case, I definitely got caught in the moment and purchased a little more artwork than my budget allowed. Although, I know it is something that I am going to treasure in the future and something really fun that I will be able to share with my children, grandchildren, etc. I really wanted to walk away in my way of being cheap, but I loved them so much and couldn’t do it! I took home these limited edition prints which come with a certificate of authenticity from the Dr. Seuss Estate.

The three pieces of illustration art that I picked up where:

1.  “I like to eat cake in a tub”

2. “Sylvester McMonkey McBean” (Sneetch Machine)

3. “oh, the places you’ll go”

Theres still a few more pieces that I would really like, including a couple from his secret art collection and from his archived collection

1. “Wisdom of the Orient cat”

2. “Cat behind the hat”

Just a quick note, try to google and find the story of the cat behind the hat, it is very interesting, fun and ver witty! Dr. Seuss was absolutely a fantastic and wonderful person.  I hope that he will not be forgotten!

Theodor Geisel – I SALUTE YOU!
