Ho Chi Minh, another city that never sleeps! People are moving all the time up and down the roads and motorcycles like you wouldn’t believe!  Our time in Ho Chi Minh was rather quick this time around, We arrived Monday morning at about 5am into the Saigon Royal hotel which was an absolute shat hole, but non the less a place to sleep.   Monday was a free day so we slept in until about 10am and went to Pho 24 for breakfast!  Seriously, the best Pho in Vietnam, it is clean and very Sanitary. Guaranteed it would pass a health check in Vancouver.  Pho 24 is located right across the street Ben thanh market.

Monday night, our guide took us to a restaurant, the food was absolutely great, but I was extremely annoyed that upon arrival they had only given us the “set menu” to choose from which was way overpriced. I was slightly bothered so I had asked for the normal menu and had several dishes for less money!  - This is one of the downsides I have found to being on tour, is that the guide takes you to restaurants that are usually “organized” and then give them kickbacks or free food for bringing the tour there.

Monday evening, once we were back at our hotel, I had an experience that I have never had before!  A purse snatcher had tried to steal my “man” bag from me. Our group was about 6 of us standing in a circle drinking beer outside of our hotel, without noticing a guy on his motorcycle zoomed past me and grabbed my bag while it was still around my neck. Lucky for me the bag was touch and I had a good reaction and held my bag tight, the guy almost wiped out, lucky for him otherwise he would have got the ass kicking of his life…in any case he didn’t get my bag from me!  I was quite annoyed, angered and disgruntled by this. In fact I was even more so pissed off that the security at our hotel looked and kind of laughed at what happened and our tour guide was also without any reaction which left me feeling like maybe he had something to do behind it… probably not really, but he was one strange cat (our original tour guide, had to leave us on our arrival to Saigon due to a family emergency, so I am referring to the new guide we had)…Just really was strange and didn’t give me a good impression.

Tuesday morning, we had a great tour to the Cuchi Tunnels to learn more about the Vietnam war, it is extremely interesting and really hard to put the events into perspective. All I can say is that it was a real mess and I still have no idea why the war even happened….   I thought for the distance we went out to the Cuchi Tunnels we should have also taken time to visit the Cao Dai temple and also to Nui Ba Den which is really an awesome place!

Tuesday afternoon, I took my wife and mother shopping for shoes to Charles and Keith where they shopped their hearts away. I think my wife got lucky with 4 pairs of shoes!  Makes me happy when she’s happy!

Tuesday evening for dinner, I wanted our group to go to a local Vietnamese Barbecue so I had talked to our guide and suggested that we go there. It seemed that everybody enjoyed the outdoor BBQ experience and the large amounts of alcohol that we consumed!

Wednesday morning the rest of our group left for Cambodia and we headed back to Nha Trang for Good times at the beach!

I’m feeling really happy today! Mom and dad had spent last night at Calgary Airport due to their flight being cancelled from Calgary to Tokyo because of bad weather (Lightning, Thunder, etc.). – They got rebooked and luckily enough got moved from a Tango Fare to a Latitude Fare. I was able to use my Air Canada e-Upgrade credits to get them an upgrade from Calgary (YYC) to Vancouver (YVR) to Hong Kong (HKG). This is pretty much their first time flying business class, so I am extremely excited and happy that they get to be blessed and have an incredible journey to Asia this afternoon. – Thank you Air Canada for treating me and my family so amazing. Your rewards program is brilliant and you have allowed us to Experience great things!

The real funny thing is that both Dad and I have known all day that they got bumped and we have been telling her she will have an emergency exit so she can enjoy a little extra leg room!  We have also been teasing her about sleeping on the plane and having mimosas and enjoying some port and cheese!

Also, a special thank you to Gayle from AC Concierge in Calgary for taking great care of my parents yesterday in Calgary as well as Gina from ACSE Desk for ensuring my parents got rebooked ASAP. I am looking forward to family vacation this upcoming weekend. I will see you on the party bus AC63 on Saturday!

I read that Valentines is a day for people to put it all on the line and tell the ones they care about how much they mean to them and how much you LOVE them…so here it is!

To my Fiance Aya, I LOVE you so much, you are beautiful to me in every way imaginable…except when you yell at me and tell me that I have done  something stupid…In any case, the past 6 years and 8 months have been incredible…there has been TONS of UP’s and a few downers but mostly it has been all UP’s!  You have helped me through personal battles and have also been supportive of my dreams and goals! You are the backbone to my achievements over the past six years.  The other thing I love about you is your sense for adventure, on all the trips I go on, I always have the most fun when you are with me, it always feels like a special experience that we have together, I hope throughout our life together we will have lots of adventures allowing us to explore and experience life to the fullest! I always tell you I love you more than you love me, but I think we love each other the same…I love the way you make me feel loved! You do it so good! I can’t wait to Marry you in Hawaii in May…this is only a start and it’s going to get a billion times better!

I love you like a fat boy loves cake! – You sweeten my life baby!

To my Mom and Dad, You guys are the greatest! I have always appreciated the fact that you have been like friends to me, rather than parents. Of course at a younger age, you were the ones who disciplined me and have helped to mold me into the person I am today.  You have always been supportive of my dreams, goals and ambitions and have always told me to hold out for what I want in life and not to settle for anything less.  I am more than proud to call you my best friends and my parents.  I love you both so much!

To my Brother, good times! I remember when we were younger and couldn’t get along…I am sooo happy those times are gone and we are mature and old enough to get along and to accept each-other for who we are.  I am proud of you for stepping out of your comfort zone and taking chances.  Nobody ever got anywhere without taking a chance!  They say you can choose your friends but not your family. If I had to choose my family, I would still choose you. You are loyal, trusting, caring and very adventurous. I love it that you just roll with the flow and seem not to care to much about things. I wish I had that trait from me.  I am happy to call you brother and friend.

To Jenn, Kris’ other half. I appreciate you too and am thankful that you are in Kris’s life. Although, we might not see eye to eye on everything. I do think that you are a very deserving person who deserves good things in life. You make my brother happy, thus I love you also.

Happy Valentines to my wonderful family! I love you all and my life would incomplete without you!
